life, irony and contradictions

when the government imposed that children 17 and below are prohibited from buying cigarettes, it didn't say that they are also prohibited from selling it.
now, i just wonder how long would it just take him to know how to smoke the cigarettes that he is selling? or probably he is already.

its just sad seeing this in a bookstore.
when the entire academe is struggling to enlighten people that homosexuality is not a psychological sickness, there are still a lot of people and establishment that still lives in this notion.
take for example, this book store that labels homosexual books under the psychology section. the books that were dimly highlighted in red, were the series of ladlad books, gay dar, black pajamas etc. which were supposed to be under philippine literature section. since these books are compilations of poetry, prose, essays and short stories and didn't tackle any concept of personality disorders, hormones, hypothalamus or even the so-called gay genes.

i remember this ad by abs cbn way back memory lane.
i was around 5 or 6 that time. but i could still clearly remember it. there were these children saying their rights and this picture reminded me of one of those lines.
"karapatan magkaroon ng pamilyang mag-aaruga sa akin (the right to have a family that would love and take care of me)"
"karapatan sa edukasyon, pagkain, pananamit at ligtas na tirahan (the right for education, food, clothing and safe home)".

oh well, life is indeed, full of irony and various contradictions.

Maybe the person who organized the books might still be living in the dark ages...

in the 90's, the professional group of psychologist in china, finally concluded that homosexuality was not a disease.. however the state still consider it immoral

-- --

few years back, it was the japanese professional psychologist who made the same conclusion.

-- --

asia has a long way to go pa hay..

-- --

in our country nakupo..medyo matagal pa, wala pang real gay icon sa ating bansa (regine is not, she is just emulated because of her talent).. i mean kahit sa local mainstream na music, wala pang tunay na pang-bading. think "i will survive" or any modern gay club anthem.

-- --

sa ngayon nauuna ang indie film, but i want a diverse indie film, not searching for personal or social acceptance.. we been searching for the very long time..

i think bloggin is way ahead of the printed counter part.

It's life aint it? depending on which society you live in, it'll never be fair to most people...

mugen: i must second the motion. hay, siguro natabunan na siya ng mga libro niya at hindi niya naman binabasa..

cedeux: kanina ko pa nga kinakanta yung backround music niya eh...if you can still remember it as well
yup, powerbooks-trinoma nga siya.
hidni ko lang alam kung lahat ng powerbooks ganito ang sectioning.

davenport: isa lang masasabi ko sa state: ano ang ba ang morality para sa kanila?
i must admit these comments are really really true. its a long journey pa nga not to mention the processes that we need to go through.

monotony has no space in a society.

i wonder how or when or who could revolutionize (at least in the aspect of discrimination)the philippine society.

hmm.

sa ibang bookstores, sa pagkakatanda ko, ay nasa phil litt section naman ang mga ladlad books, etc.

sadya lang sigurong makitid ang pag-iisip ng branch manager dun.

that photo of homeless/parentless kid is as heartbreaking as the issue of pinoy-on-queue for NFA rice. :)
